Justin Schmit Sculpture
As a sculptor, Justin Schmit has worked in concrete, bronze and stone, but more recently his work has been primarily in terra cotta. Each piece is high fired (vitrified); some are left natural, others are stained and polished to create a unique patina. His sculptures have been exhibited in galleries and have won awards in shows in the Midwest and on the Pacific Coast. Presently he lives and works as a sculptor in Humboldt County, CA.
Justin says, "Our interest in the human condition is universal, yet it is also very personal. My own interest is expressed in my sculptures through the human figure. Often a number of figures are combined to achieve a desired sculptural effect, and elements of realism and abstraction are used to express a range of human experiences. It is my wish that people will see themselves and recognize their feelings, beliefs and experiences through my art."
