E. John Robinson has always been an artist. His first years were spent with pencils and crayons, then pastels. At age 6, he graduated to watercolors. At eleven, he was given his first set of oils, and he has been painting ever since. He is a constant observer, always looking for the new and unusual that "grab" him. He is very spirtual in the sense that he feels a oneness with nature, considers it his church, and is happiest when painting on location. Born in Oregon and raised along the coast, he has always had a special fondness for the sea. From 1960 to 1980 he painted nothing else. When he finally added landscapes to his creative expressions, he did so with a reverence for the subject only achieved after years of devoted study and love of nature. E. John has always avoided shows with prizes and ribbons, considering public acceptance to be far more important. That public acceptance is evidenced by the over 3500 of his paintings in private collections across the country and in Europe. Major collectors of his woek include corporations such as Wrigley and Nestle and individuals such as George Lucas and Burt Reynolds. E. John and his wife who is also an artist make their home on the beautiful Mendocino coast of northern California.
