Watercolor Daniel Barrett majored in fine art at Laney College in Oakland from 1971-1973 and at Humboldt State University in Arcata from 1976-1977. He won a competition in 1993 and was commissioned by the city of Vallejo to create a work of art for its Sister City, Akashi, Japan. The watercolor painting, "Vallejo Waterfront," hangs in Akashi's new museum. Recently relocating to the Mendocino Coast from the San Francisco Bay Area, Daniel paints full time on location when he can, and whenthe weather forces him to inside his studio. His current work focuses exclusively on the magical Mendocino landscape which thoroughly deserves its reputation as one of the best destinations for Plein-Aire painters on the planet. Daniel's goal is to spend the second half of his life painting his emotional response to this paradise. He will never run out of subject matter.
