Ray Tracey
World-renowned Navajo jewelry designer Ray Tracey is always venturing forth to break new ground, to establish new ways of seeing, understanding and creating. His newest jewelry lines embody the philosophy and spirit of honoring history while discovering the future. He constantly moves forward, developing innovative designs on the foundation of knowledge. He finds new possibilities for his work everywhere, and constantly draws new concepts from his life experiences. "My tradition is based on what my grandfather and father taught me, but traditions are constantly changing. We are creating traditions for future generations right now."
The journey of jewelry making for Ray Tracey began in his birthplace of Ganado, Arizona when he was nine years old. Yet, as a young man he detoured from pursuing jewelry design as a career to Hollywood, where he spent several years as an actor in feature films and television. Eventually Ray's love of jewelry brought him back to this art form as a professional in 1977, and he founded Tracey Ltd. in 1985. Ray has been featured in many prominent magazines and frequently travels throughout Europe and Asia developing new ideas. Despite all these accomplishments behind him, Ray Tracey insists, "It's still the journey that matters, not the arrival. Every day I'm learning something new and I truly hope I never arrive."
