George Ponzini Art Glass
George Ponzini creates glass perfume bottles, stemware, candlesticks,
shelves, mirrors, and sculptures that are engaging and elegant. He captures
the feeling of art deco with stunning composites of blown and constructed
glass elements. Mr. Ponzini was introduced to glass while studying at
Franklin Pierce College in 1974. Soon he was concentrating on glass and
furniture at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He has studied
glass at Pilchuck Glass School and Penland School, and also served on
the faculty of the Sharon Arts Center in New Hampshire.
He has been honored as a Fellowship Recipient from the Vermont Council
of the Arts and the Grodin Award for Excellence in Design and Craftsmanship.
The works of George Ponzini have been featured in many notable exhibits
including Vassar College, Nicolaysen Art Museum in Wyoming, the Renwick
Gallery in Washington D.C., Glasmuseum Ebeltoft in Denmark and the International
Exhibition of Glass Craft in Kanazawa, Japan.
