Cynthia Myers, Sand Carved Glass
Cynthia Myers is a native of Northern California who has been working in the medium of etched glass for over fourteen years. With each piece, she begins with handblown glass. The designs are cut into resist tape, with each successive part being "pulled" away for the glass to be sand-blasted to the desired effect. With and eye for subtlety, she adds shadowing that gives her artistry dimension and depth. Her pieces can be identified by a cutaway lip, a signature style she developed by carving the lip and incorporating it into the total design of the piece.
A self-taught artist, Cynthia has worked in prominent glass etch studios. Her work is in galleries across the U.S., Japan and Italy. Living along the rugged and plush Mendocino Coast, Cynthia's depictions tend to express the natural environment.
