William Dexter Contemporary Glass
In 1981, William Dexter co-founded Taylor Backes glass studio with his
wife Karla Trinkley. Their objective was to collaborate in the design
of traditional and contemporary art glass. Although Dexter and Trinkley
had each exhibited internationally they wanted to create a unique line
of work separate from their own styles. The result is colorful dynamic
form and superlative craftsmanship in one-of-a-kind and limited editions
of hand-blown glass.
Dexter and Trinkley both received BFA degrees from Tyler School of Art
in Elkins Park, PA and masters degrees from the prestigious Rhode
Island School of Design.
Their work has been exhibited throughout the world and is in the permanent
collections of museums including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The American
Craft Museum and The Chase Manhattan Bank Collection. They have lectured
and taught at the world renowned Pilchuck Glass School, Penland Craft
School, Summervail, Colorado and the Rhode Island School of Design.
